Statistical tracking data
We use connection data for our consultation statistics (type of browser, number of visitors, sections visited, etc.) to optimise our site in terms of sections and navigation, but this information is not transmitted to third parties. The site's cookies do not contain any personally identifiable information and are designed to be used solely by MDE. In particular, we use cookie technology.
- What is a "cookie"?
A cookie is a standard piece of Internet technology that the MDE uses as a standard feature. Cookies are informative text files that your Internet browser places on your computer when you visit a website. Most browsers automatically accept cookies, but can be set not to accept them or to indicate when a cookie is being sent.
- How do I know if I am receiving a cookie?
You need to enable the "cookie alert" in your browser options.
- Should I activate the alert?
It is up to you to decide. If you deactivate it, you will not receive any more alert messages.
- What is the purpose of cookies in general?
Cookies have 3 functions:
- The first is to "maintain the state of an application". This means that each time you return to a site, you start where you left off the previous time.
- The second function is to track your journey through the site. The "cookie" records your path through the site or the most visited pages. This allows the site managers to optimise the site according to the interests of the visitors. You might think that knowing your browsing history - the provider can build up a profile of your particular habits - is an unwelcome intrusion into your privacy. However, remember that no personally identifiable data is stored in a cookie.
- The third is the recognition of personal data that you have previously entered into the site, which helps to orient you to the site and to personalise the pages. This function is used on this site in the sections described in the question "What is the use of cookies on this site? This information is not stored in the cookie and cannot be used by a third party.
- What is the use of cookies on this site?
On the site: a cookie is used to enable you, once you have identified yourself, to browse other sections of the site and to return to a section without having to identify yourself again. Similarly, a cookie is used to record the various actions you may take on the site. Once again, this is only used for statistical monitoring and analysis of the services we offer.
- Do I have to delete the "cookies"?
Again, it is up to you. If you feel that cookies are an invasion of your privacy, delete them. However, we do not recommend this. This will reduce the ease of access to useful and personalised information on subsequent visits.
- How do I delete cookies?
Go to your cookies folder, normally called "cookies" on your hard disk (c:\windows\cookies for example), select them and delete them like any other file. The settings of your browser software allow you to be informed of the presence of the cookie and to refuse it by changing your browser. Depending on the type and version of the cookie, the procedure varies from one browser to another.
